Minister Lipavský Will Attend the April EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg

On Monday, 22 April, EU Foreign Ministers will meet in Luxembourg for the regular meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC). Czechia will be represented by Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský. The main topics of the meeting will be the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East and the conflict in Sudan.

The EU foreign ministers will first focus on military support for Ukraine. They will be joined by EU defence ministers. Daniel Blažkovec, Deputy Minister of Defence, will attend on Czechia's behalf.  Two Ukrainian officials - foreign ministry chief Dmytro Kuleba and defence minister Rustem Umerov - will also join the discussion via videoconference. The main topic on the agenda will be the Czech munitions initiative. The politicians will also discuss the situation in the situation in the Middle East in the wake of Iran's recent air strike on Israel and the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. Last but not least, the debate will focus on the conflict in Sudan, which has led to a massive refugee crisis in the country.
