National Day Reception

The Embassy of the Czech Republic on Pyongyang hosted a National Day reception on October 24th. The event commemorated both 100th anniversary of establishment of Czechoslovakia and 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Czechoslovakia and Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
The event was attended by a special envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for public diplomacy, JUDr. Pavel Vošalík, who visited the DPRK between October 20th and 25th. Present at the reception was also the military attaché of Czech Republic accredited to DPRK from Beijing, colonel Radim Jonas.

The Ambassador of Czech Republic to DPRK Milan Hupcej briefly introduced the history behind both anniversaries, main highlights of Czech-DPRK relations and main diplomatic challenges on the Korean Peninsula. He brought attention to the local representation of EU in DPRK, held in second half of 2018 by Czech Republic.

The main guest on DPRK side was Vice-minister of Foreign Affairs Pak Myong-guk, who congratulated both countries on their important anniversaries. He also mentioned the positive developments on the peninsula since beginning of year 2018 and DPRK's internal development plans, such as economic reforms.
