Pianist Terezie Fialová and Violoncellist Jiří Bárta Performed in Bethlehem and Jerusalem

On 8 May and 9 May 2023, the Representative Office of the Czech Republic in Ramallah organized a series of concerts of the acclaimed Czech pianist Terezie Fialová and leading violoncellist Jiří Bárta at the Austrian Pilgrim Hospice to the Holy Family in Jerusalem and Dar Al-Kalima University in Bethlehem. In Bethlehem, Terezie Fialová and Jiří Bárta conducted workshops for university students of piano and violoncello. The program was preceded by performances of the musical duo in Jordan, organized by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Amman. 

For their concerts in Bethlehem and Jerusalem, Terezie Fialová and Jiří Bárta prepared a varied program consisting of the works of Ludwig van Beethoven, Antonín Dvořák, Bohuslav Martinů, and Astor Piazzolla.

The concert at Dar Al-Kalima University in Bethlehem, held on 8 May 2023, was opened by its founder and president, Rev. Prof. Dr. Mitri Raheb. Among the distinguished guests were Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Bethlehem and the Chairman of the Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Samir Hazboun, representatives of the Czech community in Palestine, as well as university students who participated in workshops led by both artists earlier that afternoon. During the classes, Terezie Fialová and Jiří Bárta studied compositions and interpretations of works of European composers with university students of piano and violoncello.

On 9 May, 2023, Terezie Fialová and Jiří Bárta concluded the series of concerts at the historical premises of the Austrian Pilgrim Hospice to the Holy Family in Jerusalem, which carries a Czech footprint and the Representative Office of the Czech Republic in Ramallah has long been honoured to partner with. The musical evening, opened by the Head of Mission Jakub Šlosárek, was attended by representatives of the diplomatic community, partners of the Representative Office of the Czech Republic in Ramallah as well as guests of the Austrian Hospice. The audience appreciated the deep-felt, precise and spontaneous rendition of the presented pieces and received the musical duo with thunderous applause.
