Concert for the 50th Anniversary of the Occupation of Czechoslovakia

In connection with the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the occupation of Czechoslovakia in August 1968, a concert of the Swedish music group Liljor was held in Stockholm's Scala clubhouse on Saturday, August 25, 2018.

The singularity of this musical performance was that the group played compositions by the main representatives of the Czechoslovak anti-communist musical movement, translated into Swedish. The listeners listened to songs from Marta Kubišová, Vlasta Třešňák, Charlie Soukup and Karel Kryl. The translation was prepared by the Czech-Swedish journalist and publicist Hynek Pallas. His father, Jiří Pallas, charter and organizer of the Safran Association, who moved to Sweden after the signing of Charter 77, published in the seventies and eighties the gramophone records of forbidden Czech authors. The recording company Šafrán worked for nearly 10 years and also released the plays of Václav Havel.

This successful musical evening was prepared by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Stockholm in cooperation with the Czech Center Stockholm. It was attended by hundreds of guests, not only from Czech compatriots but also from the Swedish public.
