2011-Visit of Czech artists participating in the project “EKECHEIRIA–TRUCE“ in Greece

The project “EKECHEIRIA–TRUCE“ consists of an exhibition in which artists who having been actively involved in box for many years participate. From 5 till 12 April 2011 a team of artists participating in the project visited Ancient Olympia and Athens. They collected photo material and created a drawing diary from the visit. Both will be part of the exhibition and will also be used as sources for their further work. The visit of the artists in Greece was realised in co-operation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Athens.

In connection with the Olympic Games in Londonin 2012, the Civic Society SYMPOSION is preparing a visual project with the working title “EKECHEIRIA–TRUCE“. The aim of the project is to emphasize the combination of sports and culture, as it used to be in Ancient Greece, to emphasize the art of the body and the spirit - kalokaghatiA.

The project will be presented in the CzechRepublicand abroad, i.a. in Londonduring the Olympic Games in 2012.

The following artists – sculptor Vojtěch Adamec jr., painters Ivan Komárek and Jiří Sozanský and architect David Vávra, who having been actively involved in box, participate in the project. Drawings by children from the boxing team “Palaestra”, the Civic Society SYMPOSION has been co-operated for many years with, will form another part of the project.

The project “EKECHEIRIA–TRUCE” is held under the auspicies of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Karel Schwarzenberg.
