The Czech Republic Supports the Involvement of the ICC in the Investigation of Crimes in Venezuela

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic highly appreciates all the efforts of Ms. Tamara Suju to document the human rights situation in Venezuela, including reporting on alleged crimes under international law to the International Criminal Court that currently conducts a preliminary investigation in the situation. Venezuela is a State Party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs believes that the International Criminal Court, as a court of last resort complementary to national criminal jurisdictions, is the appropriate institution to contribute to ending impunity in Venezuela.
