The Embassy welcomed young Czech scientists living in the United Kingdom

On Friday 15 September at the Embassy, Ambassador Marie Chatardová hosted a meeting of young Czech scientists working in the United Kingdom called "London Calling!".

The event was attended by over 60 representatives of British universities, research institutes and private companies from a wide range of disciplines ranging from biochemistry and medicine to artificial intelligence, law or archaeology.

Participants heard presentations from three keynote speakers - Barbara Havelková from Oxford University, Pavel Kratina from Queen Mary University of London and Otakar Fojt from the UK Science and Innovation Network - and also had the opportunity to introduce themselves and their research through four-minute ‘flash talks‘. The programme also included presentations by the Director of the Czech Centre London, Přemysl Pela, and the Chair of the Czech and Slovak School of Okénko, Jana Nahodilová, who introduced their activities to the participants. The main organiser of the event was the Czexpats in Science platform, which brings together Czech scientists working outside the Czech Republic.
