The Czech president's and Government's condolences to the United Kingdom

With regard to the terrorist attack that took place on 22 March 2017 in London's Westminster, the leaders of the Czech Republic posted condolence letters to their British counterparts.

The President of the Czech Republic, Miloš Zeman, in his letter to Queen Elizabeth II. states that he received the news with a heavy heart and on behalf of himself and the citizens of the Czech Republic he extends his sincere condolences to the families of those who died and were injured.

The Czech Prime Minister, Bohuslav Sobotka, immediately responded to the tragic incident on his Twitter account, stating that "We symphatise with the loved ones of the victims and we stand by Britain. Terrorists will not deter us." In his condolence letter to the British Prime Minister Theresa May he says that “as much as this hateful and heinous attack was the terrorists' push to frighten the free world, our countries will never let the terrorists coerce these perverse practices and their wrong-headed thinking.”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Lubomír Zaorálek, sent a condolence letter to the British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, in which he expresses his sincere and deepest condolences to the families of the victims and states that this barbaric act must be condemned in the strictest manner. He also assured his British counterpart that the Czech Republic will stand firm with her allies in confrontation with all kinds of terrorism.
