The commemoration is traditionally organized on the occasion of the anniversary of Operation Anthropoid by the Friends of The Czechoslovak Memorial Fountain at the fountain of the same name, which was opened in the Leamington Spa’s Jephson Gardens in 1968.

In her speech, Ambassador Chatardová recalled the importance of the Operation and the city of Royal Leamington Spa, which during World War II became for two years the main base for over 4,000 soldiers of the Czechoslovak Free Army in the United Kingdom. Together with brig. gen Beran, the Ambassador subsequently laid a wreath of poppies at the local memorial. The representatives of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic, veterans of the Army of the Czech Republic and representatives of the local city administration were also among the guests of the event. The event concluded with the Czech and Slovak national anthems interpreted by the children and teachers of the Czech and the Slovak Schools in Warwick.
