Czech books for Palau Community College

Thirty books by Czech writers and/or on the Czech Republic, its culture and history were donated to library of Palau Community College, the leading educational facility in the Republic of Palau on September 30, 2015. The books were officially received by Dr. Patrick U. Tellei, Palau Community College President in the presence of a group of PCC teachers, among them Ms. Danka Ledgerwood, citizen of Czech friendly neighbouring country of Slovakia.

During the presentation ceremony, Ambassador Jaroslav Olša, jr. mentioned the interest of Czech government to support the knowledge of the country around the world, especially the places where the people-to-people contacts were not very active. He also added that he hopes that students and visitors to the best library in Palau will not only learn, but also enjoy the books, as there are also English-language translations of well-known and acclaimed Czech writers, such as Miloš Urban, Martin Vopěnka, among others, as well as works by classics as Karel Čapek or world-renowned novelist Milan Kundera.
