Exhibition "Voices of Women" at Bondi Pavilion

From Monday 5th to Sunday 11th June 2023, the “Voices of Women” exhibition will be taking place at the iconic Bondi Pavilion at Bondi Beach in Sydney

“Voices of Women” is a literary and photographic project produced by Czech artists Barbora Baronová and Dita Pepe, presenting extraordinary and inspiring stories of contemporary women from the Czech Republic and Australia. A profound example of one of these stories is that of Olga Horáková, one of the last remaining Holocaust survivors in Australia – who was born in former Czechoslovakia and emigrated to Australia in 1949, where she found her new home. The “Voices of Women” exhibition being held at Bondi Pavilion was organised under the patronage of the not-for-profit organisation UN Women Australia, who brought together the event from an organisational and financial perspective and have long been devoted to the protection of women’s rights and their position in society. This was only possible thanks to the generous support of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of NSW, the Consulate Generals of Argentina, Spain, Switzerland and the United States of America, and last but not least the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Sydney, who lent out the literary and photographic project for the purpose of the exhibition.

On June 5th 2023 – the first day of the exhibition – UN Women Australia organised an official opening, which was attended by guests from the NSW Consular Corps and representatives of local institutions and not-for-profit organisations dealing with women’s rights. The CEO of UN Women Australia, Simone Clarke and the State Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade NSW, Mr Crispin Conroy, both gave speeches during the opening night, as well as the Consul-General of the Czech Republic in Sydney Zuzana Slováková, who presented the unique literary and photographic project in more detail.

The exhibition will be open to the public 10:00 to 18:00 daily with the exception of Saturday and Sunday, when it will only be open until 16:00. Entry to the exhibition is free.
