Minister Zaorálek was a member of the delegation led by President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman. During his stay Foreign Minister Zaorálek delivered speeches at the Summit of the UN Secretary General on large movements of refugees and migrants (September 19) and at the Leader´s Summit on Refugees (September 20).

He attended the meeting of EU Foreign Ministers on Syria and events in the UN General Assembly on the first anniversary of the adoption of the development Agenda 2030 and the ceremony for the ratifications of the Paris agreement on climate change.

Among many UN side events, he participated in the events on the humanitarian situation in Iraq and action in support of Syria and the region, focusing on help in the education of children, affected by war. He also used his stay in New York to conduct bilateral meetings with other dignitaries, among others with foreign ministers of Turkey, Tunisia, Sudan or Mongolia.
