APPLICATIONS HAVE TO BE LODGED IN PERSON AT THE CONSULATE OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC IN SYDNEY. THE APPOINTMENT IS REQUIRED. Applicants are required to provide their fingerprints. Applicants have to appear in person at the Consulate of the Czech Republic in Sydney when lodging the application. 

 A foreign national (not Australian or New Zealand citizen)  who is legally residing in Australia must  prove a 2 YEAR CONTINUOS LEGAL RIGHT TO STAY  within Australia/ New Zealand to be able to submit the LONG TERM  VISA APPLICATION/ PERMIT  at the Consulate General in Sydney.

Each applicant must lodge their own application. Applications for children (under 15 years of age) will be completed and signed by their parents. Dependants (spouse/children) accompanying the primary applicant are required to lodge their application at the same time as the primary applicant.

All supporting documents must be submitted in original or certified photocopy. Documents in languages other then Czech must be officially translated into Czech language. All statutory declarations and legal documents signatures must be witnessed and certified by a notary or a Justice of the Peace. All documents issued by official Government authorities in Australia or New Zealand must be stamped with an Apostille ( obtained from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Australia or Department of Internal Affairs in New Zealand).

Applicants for a residency permit (over 90 days) will need to submit:

1. Application form
Completed and signed  application form together with two passport sized photographs.

2. Travel document
Travel document (passport) valid for at least ninety days after the proposed end of stay in the Czech Republic.

3. Evidence of sufficient funds
Evidence of adequate financial support for the duration of stay, eg. current bank statement, letter from financial institution and a proof that you will be able to withdraw these funds while in the Czech republic (for example copy of internationally recognized credit/debit card).

A minimum of CZK 41 100.- or equivalent (circa 2500,-AUD) is required and additional CZK 5480.- (circa AUD 334.-) for each month of stay.

Children under 18 years of age are required half of the above amounts.

4. Evidence of purpose of stay
Letter of acceptance from the relevant educational institution or organization in the Czech Republic. It may include information regarding financial support during the stay.

Science workers with a certificate from The Academy of Science of the Czech Republic may use this document as evidence of purpose of stay.

5. Accommodation
The document confirming the availability of accommodation means a document by which you prove the availability of accommodation and which indicates that the accommodation will be provided for the required period of stay from - to or for an unlimited period, i.e. document about ownership of an apartment or a house, document confirming the right to use an apartment or a house (e.g. accommodation, lease or sublease agreement) or confirmed written approval of the owner to use an apartment or a house, with the owner´s verified signature (by notary public).

The accommodation can be arranged only in a piece of property that is properly signed with an evidence number and is designated to provide housing, accomodation or recreation.

6. Certificate of health insurance

When submitting application for long term residence permit, travel medical  insurance isn’t required, but the applicant must provide proof of holding travel medical insurance before the visa is affixed to his travel document. The insurance must cover the entire period of the applicant´s stay in the Czech Republic as determined by the validity of the visa.

7. Criminal record clearance - Police clearance certificate (only for applicants older than 15 years)
Evidence that the applicant has no record in the Criminal record of the country that issued his passport and any other country/countries where he has resided during the last 3 years for more than 6 months.

• In Australia it is issued by Criminal Records section of police and it is called "Name check".
• In New Zealand it is issued by Ministry of Justice and it is called "Copy of Criminal record".
• In other countries you have to contact the appropriate Embassy or Consulate for further information

8. Fees

Additional information:

Long - term residency permit applications are processed in 60 days after receiving a complete application.

Please note that visa processing and all other fees are subject to change without notice. All fees are to be paid by physical bank card, or in specific cases and upon instruction by online transfer or in cash. 

Please include details how your passport should be returned.

• AUSTRALIA - If by mail, a self-addressed prepaid Registered Post, Express Post envelope or a courier satchel has to be enclosed.
• NEW ZEALAND and other countries - you may arrange any courier company to pick up your passport once the visa is issued or you may enclose appropriate amount of money for desired postage. For New Zealand it is 29 AUD for the International Registered or Express Post.
