IMPORTANT NOTICE - changes in the process of long-stay visa applications

On the 31. 7. 2019, an amendment to the Act on the Residence of Aliens in the Czech Republic takes effect. This article outlines some important changes in the process of long-stay visa applications due to passing of this law.

On 31. July 2019, the following changes in the process of long-stay visa applications will take effect:

The Embassy of the Czech Republic in Addis Ababa will no longer accept "confirmation of accomodation" for applicants intending to stay in the Czech Republic on the basis of long-term visa by databox. Applicants will be required to submit a physical copy of the original document.

​Confirmations recieved after this date may not be used for the purpose of applications; those recieved before this date can be used.

​Applicants applying for the purpose of study will no longer be exempt from the requirement to pay a visa fee.

​Fees for certain applications will be increasing. The new fees will be as follows:

​Long-stay visa applications (incl. purpose of stay "study").............................. 2500 CZK
​Long-term residence permit applications........................................................ 2500 CZK
​Employee Card applications............................................................................ 5000 CZK
Blue Card applications.................................................................................... 5000 CZK

 

​Visa fees are subject to change depending on the current Exchange rate. All fees are payable in ETB only.

​Visa fees are waived for minors under 6 years of age.
