Memorandum of Understanding signed between Czech University of Life Sciences and Damascus University

On June 22, 2023, the President of Damascus University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Osama Jabban, received the Deputy Head of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Syria, Dr. Petr Kašička, to discuss the prospects of scientific and academic cooperation between Czech and Syrian universities and scientific institutions. During the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Czech University of Life Sciences and Damascus University, which is celebrating 100 years anniversary since its foundation in 1923, with the aim of strengthening cooperation in the scientific, educational and research fields.

The two sides agreed to cooperate through activities and programs such as the exchange of students and academic staff, the implementation of joint research activities, participation in seminars and academic meetings, and the implementation of publishing activities of common interest. The memorandum also includes areas of cooperation, programs offered by the two sides based on mutual desire between the two sides, which contributes to enhancing joint cooperation.


The meeting was attended by the Vice-President of Damascus University for Scientific Research and Postgraduate Students, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Firas Alhinawi, Vice-President of Damascus University for Academic Affairs, Prof. Mayssa Sioufi, Vice-President of Damascus University for Opening Learning Affairs, Prof. Ragdaa Nuaisa, the Vice-President of Damascus University for Administrative Office, Prof. Muhammad Trko, the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Dr. Adnan Musalam, the Head of the Syrian Doctors Syndicate, Dr. Ghassan Fandi, and Dr. Ghaith Fandi, Scientific Coordinator at the Czech University of Life Sciences.


In Syria, the Czech University of Life Sciences has so far signed MoUs with Tishreen University, Almanara University, Alsham University and now with Damascus University. Globally, the Czech University of Life Sciences signed Memorandums of Understanding with more than 170 universities throughout the world. In the framework of the Erasmus+ programme hundreds of exchange students study at Czech University of Life Sciences Prague for a semester or an academic year, whilst staff members from partner universities come to the Czech University of Life Sciences for short term teaching assignments and training. The Czech University of Life Sciences offers a temporary home for nearly 2000 international students from more than 80 countries.
