Deputy Minister Drulák in Islamabad

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Petr Drulák held annual bilateral consultations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan with Additional Foreign Secretary (Europe) Nadeem Riyaz. He also called on Foreign Secretary of Pakistan Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry in Islamabad on October 20, 2014.

Petr Drulák and Nadeem Riyaz positively evaluated the current state of bilateral relations and confirmed interest in their further deepening. Partners agreed on strengthening the economic and commercial cooperation and discussed concrete ways how Czech entrepreneurs could contribute to the economic development of Pakistan and share their technical knowledge. Deputy Minister Drulák was particularly interested in progress in the energy sector where Czech companies are traditionally active and realize successful projects.

Petr Drulák highlighted the symbolic importance of awarding the Nobel Peace Prize to the young Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai. In this context, he discussed with Nadeem Riyaz the access to education for girls and other human rights issues. They also exchanged views on consular matters, EU-Pakistan relations and the situation in the region.

Petr Drulák invited his partner Nadeem Riyaz to Prague to participate in the next round of bilateral consultations in 2015 when the two countries will celebrate the 65. anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
