On October 10, 2019, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the CzechTourism Foreign Office in Hong Kong organized a tourism presentation and B2B seminar for Malaysian travel agents called Discover Central Europe. The event was held in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Kuala Lumpur as a part of SouthEast Asia Roadshow 2019. The aim of the project since 2014 is to jointly promote the Central European countries of so called Visegrad Four Group – the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia as attractive tourist destinations and to provide a platform for B2B matching with local tour operators and travel agents. The presentation was attended by more than 60 Malaysian entities who were given the opportunity to make direct business ties with 7 Central European companies during the matchmaking seminar.

The event was opened by the speeches by the representatives of Czech, Hungarian and Polish Embassies in Kuala Lumpur, followed by the remarks by the main organizer of the event – the director of the CzechTourism Foreign Office in Hong Kong Jan Urban. National Tourism Agencies of the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia then delivered their presentations in order to attract visitors to come to respective V4 countries to enjoy historical monuments and natural beauty. They also presented their portfolio of services towards the incoming tourism.

Establishing direct business contacts between presenting commercial entities and Malaysian tour operators was the main purpose of the event. The businesses coming to Kuala Lumpur to present their services included: Dream Tours Operator, Europe Express & East Europe Travel Service INT’L, InterContinental Praha, KOMPAS Praha, LOT Airlines, Miki Travel and Supertour DMC.

The highlight of the event was the matchmaking session and B2B networking with local tour operators and travel agents, who were offered tailor made travel packages by the businesses as well as special rates by Turkish Airlines – main sponsor of the Roadshow. The Central European atmosphere was supported by traditional dishes prepared by the Ritz-Carlton Hotel.

This year´s event was organized with the financial support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and Ministry of Regional Development. In the past, financing was always allocated also from the Visegrad Fund.
