Building Effective Partnerships for Digital Transformation

Ambassador Bálek gave a keynote speech at the UNECE Regional Forum for Sustainable Development on the role of sustainability and partnerships in the digital transformation process.

The ITU-led High-Level Roundtable on SDG 17 on 14 March focused on concrete examples of addressing the digital divide, the rapid development of artificial intelligence and digital technologies including the identification of projects for other regions. The panel was attended by senior government officials from Moldova and Romania, as well as experts from UNESCO or the European incubator for linking development cooperation and digitalization ("D4D Hub" for digital projects in third countries).

Ambassador Bálek described the current situation of unprecedented advancement of new digital technologies exacerbating digital divide. He underlined the need to find agreement between public and private sector to ensure quality regulation. He also informed that the Czech Republic has been working with the ITU to introduce human centric approach to standardization. In addition, he pointed out to some of the Czech concrete activities in support of modern and safe public administration service of other regions, such as early warning systems, cyber resilience of developing countries including the coping- mechanism guide for cyber-attacks against hospitals.
