Improvement of medical care thanks to a Czech project

Hospitals in today’s Mongolia often do not have enough medical and support equipment due to financial hardship and state budget financing difficulties.
It is not the role of foreign development cooperation to substitute for state in its basic obligations. Once civil society, however, is willing to raise awareness of short-comings and actively help itself improving life and work environment, development partners find their social responsibility worth supporting.
Sain Uilsiin Zuv Zam NGO has successfully implemented the “Improvement of medical care of the new mother at the First maternity hospital”
11-17MN04 project with an aim to repair and replace the broken parts of at least 50 wheelchairs and 20 medical transportation desks. They handed over them officially to Mr. D. Enkhbayar, director of the hospital, during a ceremonial event on 7 June 2017. Mrs. I. Grollová, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Mongolia, Mrs. L. Byambasuren, Deputy minister of Health, Mr. Oldrich Zajicek, deputy head of the mission, Mrs. D. Narantuya, Acting representative of the WHO Mongolia, Mr. Enkhbayar, director of the Urguu Maternity Hospital, representatives of the local media and others participated at this event. The NGO continues similar activities in other places of the country too.
For the implementation of this project 18,921,147.00 tugrugs (200,000 CZK) were funded by the Czech Government as one of this year’s small local projects. Outcome of this project shows that great things can be achieved even with small amount of money.
