Světáci (Man About Town) is a story of three men who find themselves temporarily in Prague. Even though they come to the city as construction workers, they soon decide to experience Prague’s night life and visit the place where it all happens – Diplomat Grill. However, their first night is rather unsuccessful and the three construction workers thus make sure that they come prepared next time around. On another occasion, they meet three women that, not unlike the three men, are trying very hard to make an impression. Importantly, however, the women also come to Diplomat Grill in order to attract customers. Even though both groups eventually find out what their respective motivations are, we are provided with an ample opportunity to laugh along the way.

About the Director:
Zdeněk Podskalský sr. was born in 1923 in the mountainous region of Šumava. He wanted to become an actor but abandoned his dream because of stage fright. After completing his studies in Prague and Moscow, and before focusing on movies, he produced a number of television programs. When it comes to movies, Zdeněk Podskalský gained fame as an author of musical film. Music plays an important role in Světáci, perhaps his most suceessful motion picture.

About the Series:
This marks the third year of the film and beer series at Bistro Bohem. The focus of the films for this year is Czech humor which is a very specific part of Czech culture. On the third Tuesday of every month from January - December 2014 (unless otherwise specified), Bistro Bohem will feature Czech comedies. All films will screen in Czech with English subtitles. Each screening includes one free beer as well as an introduction from a representative from the Embassy of the Czech Republic. All screenings are subject to change.
