This meeting was a broader follow-up of a discussion on the topic of women´s rights which was organized by Mrs. Monika Kazdová, the Deputy Head of Mission, at the premises of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in December 2021. This time distinguished professionals, who came from all fields of life – reputable writers, journalists, engineers, doctors, ethnographers, businesswomen, civil society activists etc., and from different regions of Albania, introduced their work and shared their impressions from their long or young career.  The ladies dwelt on their own perceptions about the rights of women and professionals in the Albanian society, but also made their discourse personal by sharing the challenges they and their female colleagues, relatives and friends face in their daily lives.

Topics like conditions of children in the country and their rights, selective abortions – in case of baby girls were also discussed. Journalists brought up the life of women reporters, whereas businesswomen present, talked about their enterprises. Another topic tackled was ethnography and women’s skills of making their family clothing over the centuries.

Ambassador Urban present in the event, expressed his appreciation for the work of these precious women, and Mrs. Monika Kazdová, the Deputy Head of Mission, congratulated them on their incessant efforts for enhancing the life of women in the Albanian society – as they contribute in raising awareness on their rights and economic empowerment.

Woman’s Museum in Tirana was established by Mrs. Elsa Ballauri a few years ago. It is filled with a rich inheritance that dates back to the ancient times, and it is to be considered a ‘jewel’ and piece of artwork in the center of Tirana - ready to be visited.
