On October 10, 2021, the all-Japan final of the international competition of university teams in the development and control of robots called Robocon took place in the Katayanagi Arena in Tokyo. One of the awards, the crystal cup made by Czech glassworks Moser, is traditionally handed over to the winning team by a representative of the Embassy of the Czech Republic as the country that gave the word “robot” to the world.
Since 1991, colleges from technically oriented universities around the world have been competing regularly each year in a well-defined discipline to test their skills in mechanics, robotics and design. Specially designed robots usually weigh more than 10 kg and must have automatically and mechanically controlled parts.
This year's winner was the Nagaoka Universitry of Technology team, who will represent Japan in the world finals, which will take place online in December of this year. The winning team received a hand-crafted crystal cup from hands of Ms. Monika Dobiášová, Consul of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tokyo.
