Czech Republic at the 44th Session of the UN Human Rights Council

The 44th Session of the UN Human Rights Council is held from 30 June to 17 July. Its original programme was postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The Czech Republic will take part in negotiations of all resolutions during the Session. As a Member State it will jointly present an EU resolution on the human rights situation in Belarus.
During the Session, the Czech Republic will take part in the following debates and dialogues:
- Interactive dialogue with the UN High Commissioner on Human Rights (1.7.2020)
- Interactive dialogue with Special Rappourteur on violence against women (7.7.2020)
- Panel Discussion on impact of new technologies on human rights (8.7.2020, submitted in writing)
- Interactive dialogue with Independent Expert on sexual orientation and gender identity (8.7.2020)
- Interactive dialogue with Special Rappourteur on peaceful assembly and association (9.7.2020, on behalf of the Core Group)
- Interactive dialogue with Special Rappourteur on Belarus (10.7.2020)
- Interactive dialogue with Special Rappourteur on freedom of expression and opinion (10.7.2020)
- Interactive dialogue with Special Rappourteur on Myanmar (14.7.2020)
- Interactive dialogue with the Commission of Inquiry on Syria (14.7.2020)
- Interactive dialogue with the UN High Commissioner on Venezuela (15.7.2020)
- Enhanced Interactive dialogue on Sudan (16.7.2020)
The Czech Republic is a member of the UN HRC for the term 2019 to 2021. Previously, it served as a Member during the first year of the Council's existence (2006-2007) and from 2011 to 2014.
